New normal, new website

I haven’t given my website much thought over the last while. I’d known it wasn’t quite right, that there were things I could change if I had the time or the knowledge, bla bla bla.

Then the world changed. I was forced in to action by my hosting platform going in to administration and closing the company, and they recommended wordpress, so here I am.

I am a musician, I hope to share music. More than anything I am an educator and find increasingly more passion in that aspect of my work. I rejoice in tiny victories. The big ones are great too.

So I have some thoughts about music and education and just life in general that I may share more of over time. For now I just want to be here and say hello and be contactable if you google me, so be kind and don’t judge me too harshly.

Introduce myself?

WordPress says I have to introduce myself, and I haven’t figured out how to delete the post.

I’ve no idea who reads these things and who will engage. I’m not really in it for the likes. That’s what instagram is for. I also have a pretty neat biography page that tells you what I have sung and where I have been educated and pretty much anything you want to know in official terms.

Unofficially how did I get where I am musically? Well that started with my Gran. The previous owner of my grand piano who introduced me to a world of music via vinyl and sitting me on the end of the big duet stool and playing and singing to me. Everything from Phantom of the Opera to Frank Sinatra via Louis Armstrong, all the big symphonic writers and some Gladys Knight and the Pips. My taste has remained somewhat eclectic. My parents took care of the 70’s and 80’s with electropop, rock and then there’s the Nigel Kennedy Four Seasons video my Mum had.

And now we have spotify and apple music and the world is our proverbial oyster.
